The IMES is located in the basement of the women's department of a former hospital ('Binnen Gasthuis') right in the historic center of Amsterdam -- just a few blocks from the Red Light District -- and can be reached easily by public transportation. Parking in the neighborhood is difficult, if not impossible. From Central Station it is a fifteen minute walk.
From within the city:
by tram: lines 4-9-16-24-25 (Stop 'Rokin/Spui', then turn left, pass the souvenir shop with the small windmill on top of it, and enter the Langebrugsteeg. After 150 meters the Langebrugsteeg is renamed Grimburgwal. The Binnen Gasthuis is at the end of this alley. Enter the small gate in the corner at your right)
From outside the city:
by train: Centraal Station, then trams 4-9-16-24-25
From Schiphol airport:
by train: direction 'Amsterdam Centraal Station', then trams 4-9-16-24-25
