Professor of Urban Sociology at the Department of Sociology of the University of Amsterdam (UvA), Researcher at the Center for Urban Studies and the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies (IMES) of the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR) in the same university, the European Chair of International Metropolis, and Member of the IMISCOE Research Network.

During my sabbatical in 2015 and 2016, I was also associated with the the Netherlands Institute in Turkey, the Department of Sociology in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Koç University in Istanbul, Turkey, and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Massey University, Albany (Auckland), New Zealand.
